Route 66: An Intersting example of stylish electric chopper

Route 66 Electric Chopper

Route 66 Electric Chopper

What’s got two bald tires, runs on electricity, and is red and black all over? ZEVS! An elegant futuristic electric motorbike by three fellows, one of whom we’ve had up on Yanko before: Bernhard Ranner. Look and see, see and judge weather this bike performs to your aesthetic and atta-glance logistics standards if you dare.
The aim of this motorcycle, as stated in it’s outline, is thus:

“The first electric motorcycle for the real biker.” Designs for “real men”, dusty roads, in the spirit of Harley Davidson, Custom Chopper culture and the good old Route 66 romance.

Now I’m gonna always be the first to say “real men” is sort of an oxymoron where I come from, but let’s go on from there. Given the lack of statistics and logistical data we’ve been give, take this bike apart: will it be safe to have that seat in that sort of proximity to the back tire? Where will the left leg go? Will the red and blackness be outlawed like the Air Jordan Ones?

All these questions may also pale in comparison to the wildness of the design. These things often happen. Write on up! Take a crack at the keyboard. Will it blend?

Designer: Bernhard Ranner, Anders August Kittilsen, and Rudolf Stefanich

Check out the display page for this bike at Creative DNA Austria – by special request.

(in Italian and English)

(UK)June 12, 2009, Isle of Man – The electric bikes competing in the TTXGP, the world’s first zero carbon eGrandPrix, have completed the race. In the BEST BUY PRO Class, UK/India-based team Agni with rider Rob Barber secured first place with a time of 25mins 53secs and an average speed of 87.434mph. In the OPEN class US based electric motorsport secured the win with rider Chris Heath secured first place with a time of 34mins 17secs and an average speed of 66.022 mph.

Second and third place in the BEST BUY PRO Class were secured by the German XXL Racing Team with rider Thomas Schoenfelder (time: 29mins 04secs/average speed 77.841mph) and the US-based Brammo Bike with rider Mark Buckley (time: 30mins 2secs/average speed: 75.350mph), respectively.

In the OPEN Class, second and third places were secured by US based Barefoot Motors with rider Chris Petty (time: 36mins 23secs/average speed: 62.219mph) and team TORK from India with rider John Crellin (37mins 26secs/average speed: 60.475mph).

Is clear: the true winner of the TTXGP was the simplicity… who try to build expensive and weighy bike for try to found the best speed performance fail his goal. , Agni , XXL and Brammo realized over existing frames with a very simple project and with light frames beat of grat measure complex bike like Mission and Cszycs realized with aerospatial tecnology… and probably dont give the correct weight to the human factor… the driver still have big importance in TT and sure Barber with his bike made one masterpiece… who knows if in future the Mission and Cszycs will come again?
